The Reality

The most commonly diagnosed cancer among women

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the vast majority of countries worldwide. The benefits of early detection and improved treatment plans have prioritised successful outcomes.

"While it may be a devastating diagnosis, it doesn't get to define you. It starts with you, let your journey be a testimony."

Our Approach

A multidisciplinary team, from day one

We manage our patients through a multidisciplinary team approach (MDT) to enable shared decision-making and offer beneficial support and guidance — with case discussions involving breast imaging specialists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and plastic surgeons.

As our patient is managed holistically, the involvement of a psychologist, geneticist and fertility specialist is also an important part of our management plan — we don't want to leave a patient not knowing what options they have.

Breast cancer affects both the old and the young, including men. Treatment is not only limited to women. We understand a woman's image matters, and Breast Conserving Therapy is one other treatment modality offered at the practice, in keeping with international guidelines and standard of care.

Awareness

Self-care is a pivotal first step

Self care forms a pivotal component in raising awareness and early detection through self breast examination and seeking treatment timeously. As an advocate for better health for all, Dr Mabe continues to raise awareness through talks, education and advising women to regularly check their breasts.
